THE PROCESS
Kingfish was created to coincide with blues singer/songwriter Christone “Kingfish” Ingram’s debut album of the same title. At 21 years-old, Ingram is a prodigy in the blues world. Offstage he’s a sweet kid, but his onstage presence channels the souls of legendary performers like B.B. King and Muddy Waters.
I took my inspiration from Ingram’s lyrics in “Outside Of This Town,” a song about making it on his own and leaving his childhood home of Clarksdale, Mississippi. I knew that he primarily used electric guitars, so I cut open an old Fender acoustic guitar and conceptualized Ingram’s escape from inside the wood interior and out into the electrifying world of the city.
